Wakarusa, Ind. – When we received a call from the homeowner, they thought it sounded like a raccoon had babies in the chimney. This is a fairly common problem when there is an inadequate cap on the chimney. When our technician came out to investigate the issue, he took this short video clip:
Those are not raccoons as you can see, or rather, hear!! The swallows in the chimney may not have been raccoons, but our experienced technicians are able to remove all sorts of nuisance wildlife from just about anywhere. Blake was able to remove the swifts from the chimney, and install a proper cap so the problem cannot come back.
Warsaw, Ind. – Our customer called with bats in the attic. Our technicians are experts at getting bats out of the attic. Robbie was able to remove all of the bats from this brick home. With bats, getting them out is only the first step in solving the problem, We keep bats out of homes by providing bat exclusion services.
The most common way bats get into brick homes in at the point where the brick meets another building material, like the soffits. Robbie did an attractive and functional exclusion at the point where bats get in.

Lakeside, Mich. – We had an emergency bat removal call at the lake cottage of a customer in Lakeside, Michigan recently. We are available 24 hours a day for emergency service to remove an animal immediately if needed.
Our technician was able to quickly remove the bat flying around the cottage, and restore order to this Lakeside family. Good job Mike Irwin!

Union Pier, Mich. – Our animal removal technician was at a client’s home today doing seasonal mole work. The trained eyes of an American Animal Control technician will notice things that aren’t even on most homeowner’s radar.
This was the case when Mike noticed large gaps on the customer’s roof ridge vent. Some of the gaps on the ridge were large enough to get both hands under, or close to two inches. This is easy entry for bats, mice, squirrels, stinging insects like wasps, flying squirrels and more.
Mike was able to secure the roof ridge from possible animal entry by installing 265′ of Ridge-Guard™ to the ridge vent perimeter. This preventative step is a lot cheaper for the homeowner than a full attic remediation would be, once the space is contaminated with feces, possible HVAC damage, and insulation damage from feces and urine.
A customer in Dyer, Indiana called after being out of town for a couple of days. She needed dead skunk removal.
She had a dead skunk in a window well and it hung itself!
Our technician Mitch went to pick it up and to see how it’s possible that a skunk can hang itself. He arrived to the property, and saw it is a new housing development. Chances are there will be many animal issues in that neighborhood because the animal habitats have only recently been developed for housing.
He found the animal and sure enough it had hung itself.
“I had never thought it to be possible but here it is.” ~ Mitch American Animal Control

How to remove a raccoon in the shed
This Fort Wayne shed had an unwelcome guest. The client’s granddaughter noticed raccoon feces in the shed and Jory Baugher, one of our experienced wildlife removal technicians came out to investigate. As you can see in the video, there is no soffit on the shed. The areas between rafters is wide open. A raccoon has been using the corner of the shed to gain entry into the attic / loft area. During the inspection, the raccoon was spotted in the shed, and we were able to trap and remove it from the shed on the spot using experience and know-how.
Keep following AAC on Facebook to see follow-up of this project with close-up and exclusion of the shed so no more raccoons can get in.

Great job on an installation of the revolutionary roof ridge vent exclusion product RIDGE-GUARD™ by one of our Wildlife Removal Specialists Mitch Eccles. Many homes have ridge vents on their homes. Bats, mice, birds, and even squirrels often enter the home through the vent and into the attic, as there is a large opening under the vent that runs the entire length of the home.
This new product is a “game changer” in our exclusion process. We are now finding it also is keeping several types of insects out too. American Animal Control, LLC is an authorized distributor & installer of RIDGE-GUARD™ if you would like a quote for your home give us a call. 877-264-3638.
Jory Baugher, one of our wildlife removal specialists, did a roof ridge vent exclusion on a home in Fort Wayne with the new exclusion product RIDGE-GUARD™.
As you can see in these pictures, many roof ridge vents will warp and crack with extreme roof temperatures allowing easy access for bats, squirrels, mice, birds, and many types of insects including wasps and hornets. RIDGE-GUARD ™ caps this weak spot, secures the ridge cap from wind damage, and stops the unwanted pests from entering the home through the roof ridge and down into the attic. Ridge-Guard also helps keep debris from collecting under your ridge vent blocking airflow. This is important to the life of your roof.
If you are concerned about your roof ridge vent, give us a call we can secure this area of your home and give you the peace of mind that you’re not sleeping with critters above your bed. Good job Jory on the install, you can’t even tell it’s there from the ground! Notice the droppings/feces by the ridge vent on the first picture, a sure sign critters are using the vent area for access into the attic.

Resources for Bats in the Attic:
Most people only go into their attic a few times a year. Our customer in Culver, Indiana noticed a really bad odor in the attic, and gave us a call. Upon inspection of the attic, 37 dead sparrows were located in the attic, and were removed. When animals have access to the attic, it leads to all types of problems. Call American Animal Control, LLC at the first sign of animals entering the attic. If you hear noises in the attic, or see animals entering from outside, call immediately to avoid costly damage.
All areas we service for Animal Removal at American Animal Control, LLC commonly have groundhogs. Usually calls come in when a groundhog is digging by foundations and under decks. They cause a lot of damage. In this case, a groundhog was harassing the family pet.
Groundhogs are typically known for running and hiding when spotted. This guy has been harassing the customers dog which is a pit bull. After two vet bills they decided to give AAC a call and in a couple days we’ve caught two. This guy is a pig of a groundhog! Customer is tickled pink to have it removed. Groundhogs are vegetarian but they have teeth like a beaver that can cause big damage at times, to structure and pets when attacked.

Warsaw Ind. – A client called recently with noises in the chimney. When our Warsaw technician Robbie arrived and did an inspection of the affected area, it was determined that the entry point was unusual. As you can see in the image below, we had to remove several deck boards because the raccoon was getting into the chimney by a hole near the foundation.
If you see animals coming and going under the deck, it’s best to give AAC a call at 877-264-3638 or at the very least investigate to be sure nothing is getting into the house.
Our Fort Wayne, Indiana technician responded to a call about noises in the attic. During the inspection, an obvious hole in the side of the roof was located. Sometimes it’s not the spot right out in the open. The hole in the side of the house had raccoon hair all over it. He found they were going in and out the hole, and a vent on the roof as well. Barricaded a trap at both locations.
Our animal removal tech caught raccoon coming out of the vent on the roof. The most obvious hole wasn’t the capture point, but the experience of American Animal Control’s Fort Wayne technicians lead to a successful raccoon trapping. Once the raccoon was trapped, the damage is repaired, and no more animals will be able to get into this attic.
