It is a bad idea for you to feed the squirrels. Once they have associated your yard with food, squirrels won’t want to leave. In the fall squirrels will store food for winter. Often times in autumn, our customers call with noises in the attic or walls to find squirrels are digging holes in their soffit or fascia, or even climbing up the corners of their vinyl siding.
It is important to keep squirrels out of your attic. They can create quite a mess in a short amount of time. Squirrels can chew electrical wiring, and contaminate insulation with their waste. The holes a squirrel digs into your home today could lead to other animals as well as water damaging your home further.
Call us at 877-264-3638 immediately if you have noises in your attic or walls, or suspect squirrels are gaining entry into your home.
Our technicians, once on location, will do an inspection for entry points, and trap squirrels that are in your home, while preventing further entry.
Don’t provide an easy food source for squirrels in your yard. Keep fallen nuts (acorns, walnuts) picked up as much as possible, and guard bird feeders against squirrels eating the seeds. Often times squirrels will stuff their mouth with as many seeds as possible and go directly into a homeowner’s attic to store the food, and come right back for more.
We have technicians on standby to take your call in most every place in Indiana and Southern Michigan. From Union Pier, Gary, South Bend, Fort Wayne, Kokomo, Lafayette, Indianapolis, Terre Haute, and everywhere in between, AAC’s techs have the experience to help you with trapping squirrels.

A neglected porch roof with cedar shake shingles allowed easy access for raccoons to enter. Raccoons made themselves at home in the porch ceiling of this Bloomington condo. An thorough inspection by Ivan, our Bloomington animal removal technician, revealed two raccoons in the ceiling. A positive set was made with a pair of traps and both raccoons were removed after the first night. A temporary repair patch was installed to keep other animals out until permanent repairs could be made.
Raccoons are adept at making holes in roofs to gain access. It is important to keep the roof maintained, and shingles replaced when they are worn, for moisture prevention, but also because animals find it very easy to enter when the roof covering is rotted. Another common place for raccoons to cause damage is near gutters. American Animal Control ® LLC offers gutter cleaning as a prevention service. When left uncleaned, debris causes water to dam up and can cause premature rotting of soffit and fascia.
Related damage caused by raccoons posts:
Nate recently recorded part of an attic inspection Bristol, Indiana. Bats have an easy time accessing the attic due to a large number of openings. Bats can enter through gaps as small as 1/4″.
The openings and damages in this video are not caused by bats, but damages from raccoons, squirrels, as well as general construction gaps are highways for bats. The highly trained technicians and American diagnose problems like these all the time. A plan to fix the openings in this attic is given to the customer, and once repaired, a 1-way valve to let the remaining bats out, but not back in, will be installed.
Call 877-264-3838 for an attic inspection today. Don’t let the guano pile up like this before calling!

It’s a question asked by many American Animal Control ® LLC customers. “How are bats getting into the house?” they ask. Often times, like this Kosciusko County bat removal customer, people will get a bat in the house flying around once or twice a year, and not realize there is a much greater issue than the single bat flying around.
How are bats getting into the house?
Our experienced technicians answer this question often, and always after the most thorough inspection they can perform, inside and outside the house. Take this eve / soffit area for instance. It may not be visible from the ground, but when Jory, our Syracuse, Indiana technician was inspecting for bat entrance points, this stood out immediately. Bats are getting into the house through this 1/2″ gap, and have been for some time.
Sometimes the entrance point isn’t as obvious as a large black smudge on white trim. In this next image, Jory spotted some bat guano, which doesn’t need much space at all to fall through a crack and give the location of a roosting bat in the attic. Bats in the house inspections usually include a fair amount of guano deposits.
Another place bats get into the house is through the ridge vent. As ridge vents age, they often pull away from the roof, crack, and warp. This is assuming it was installed properly. Countless roofs have a ridge vent installed with a gap large enough for bats to get in from day 1. American Animal Control ® LLC technicians have an excellent method for closing up ridge vent entrance points that no longer, in most cases, requires the removal and replacement of ridge vents.

American Animal Control, LLC was called in because a large snake skin was found near a utility chase. The homeowners association at Heritage Lake, Indiana had a large population of Canada Geese causing problems for residents and boaters. Gabe is the technician who was able to round up the geese from the waters and transport them away.
Canada Geese are a big problem for many people because they congregate in large numbers at times, and their feces is a big mess. They can also be territorial, and protective of the area perceived as their own. When Canada Geese feel threatened, they will often charge at people, especially children.
As you can see, the geese were rounded up into a netted holding area, and were later transferred into a trailer for removal.
The Heritage Lake homeowners association was happy to have the Canada Geese population removed.

Tim has a client near Fort Wayne with a beautiful deck. He recently installed a custom deck barrier around the perimeter on the under side. The client was having trouble with animals getting under the deck.
When animals get under the deck, a lot of problems can arise. When groundhogs dig a burrow under the deck, they can undermine the integrity of the footings, or even the house foundation. Other animals like raccoons, feral cats, opossums and more can make the underside of a deck their home. Often times an animal that is sick or old and about to die will find a place like a deck to hide and die. It is smelly and often times hard to access the dead animal under the deck without removing boards on top.
American Animal Control, LLC ® technicians install quite a few deck barriers every year. Custom-cut thick gauge wire cloth is buried deep enough to deter animals digging under the deck, and then an attractive solid wood barrier is often installed over the mesh, giving stability and can be painted or stained to match.

Our clients noticed droppings on the front step and would sweep them off twice a day.
The clients did, as many people commonly do, think they had a mouse infestation. After a week of setting mouse traps, with no mouse catches, they decided it was something else. Our clients called in American Animal Control, LLC ® where Mitch, a wildlife removal technician in the Kokomo, Indiana animal removal market did an inspection. Mitch found a large colony of bats in their attic.
Once found, Mitch performed a bat exclusion, and installed one-way valves to let the bats leave the attic safely, but without the ability to get back in. Once all the bats were confirmed to be gone, the one-way valves are removed and the final openings, sealed.
Our clients are now happy to be BAT FREE.
Bat colony removal often has one more step
Once all bats are removed, and the structure is secured from further intrusion, an attic clean-out is often necessary. Colonies of bat produce large quantities of guano, which accumulates in the attic insulation, on rafters, and in some types of vents. Guano is smelly and can contain contaminates which make humans ill. This illness is a lung disease called Histoplasmosis, and with a clean-up of the attic by American Animal Control, the chance of contracting Histoplasmosis is greatly reduced even though a large colony of bats may have been present.
During an attic clean-out, a team of AAC technicians work together to remove all attic insulation and feces/guano. Once the entire attic is clean, a protective treatment that kills microbes is sprayed, and brand-new insulation is replaced into the attic to industry standards for R value; often greatly surpassing the old insulation R value, but without the contamination.
The best part about a total attic clean-out due to bat colony infestation is that the whole job is often covered by homeowners insurance. If you are hearing noises in the attic, notice smells, or get bats in the house; don’t hesitate. Call American Animal Control, LLC ® now at 877-264-3638.

Bats entering home?
Osceola, Ind. – A client called American Animal Control, LLC for a bat problem after having another company out for two bats in the living quarters of the house. The other company’s technician did a partial inspection and told the customer he didn’t have a bat problem.
The client subsequently had 6 more bats enter the living space of the home.
Nate, the wildlife removal technician in the Osceola, Indiana area, did a complete inspection and found no evidence of bats in the attic. He did, however, find a crack in the chimney mortar with bat feces present. This was a tiny void between the chimney stone and flue. Upon further inspection of the chimney, bats were following airflow down to an electrical outlet in the fireplace mantle and entering the living space through an almost impossibly tiny hole.
A bat exclusion and repair plan was discussed with the homeowner and the family can now sleep peacefully at night.
